Morning 6-Pack - Pet Names We’d Use If We Were Honest 😂

Published on: 30th July, 2025

Get ready to roll with laughter as we dive deep into the wild world of pet names! We kick things off with a study that spills the beans on the most popular pet names folks use for their significant others. Spoiler alert: 'Babe' takes the crown, with a whopping 20% of people calling their partner that. But hold on, it gets juicier – 'Honey' is like the fine wine of pet names, popular with the older crowd at 22%, while the Gen Z peeps are all about 'Baby' (thanks, Justin Bieber!). And let’s not forget the golden oldies like 'Sweetheart' and 'Love,' which are totally more popular with the over-50s. But here's the kicker: half of couples use pet names regularly, while a small 10% are totally against them. We even take a hilarious detour into the pet names we’d use if we were 100% honest – 'The Human Gas Machine'? Yeah, that’s a winner! So join us as we giggle our way through this pet-naming extravaganza and uncover the truth behind what we REALLY want to call our partners!

Speaker A:

Good morning.

Speaker B:

I'm Haystack, and thank you so much.

Speaker A:

For being here this morning.

Speaker A:

And there's a new study out revealing the most popular pet names.

Speaker A:

And coming in at number one is Babe.

Speaker A:

And this is a pretty significant poll.

Speaker A:

We're talking about 25,000 people and 20% say they use Babe as a nickname for their significant other on a regular basis.

Speaker A:

The next most popular nickname is Honey, or pet name, I should say.

Speaker A:

But Honey is very divided when it comes to age.

Speaker A:

So if you call your significant other Honey, you may be showing your age as just 6% of Gen Z use honey, but 22% of seniors use honey.

Speaker A:

Coming in at third on the pet names list is Baby, which is the most popular pet name for gen Z at 15%.

Speaker A:

I'm sure that's because of Justin Bieber.

Speaker A:

Baby, Baby, Baby.

Speaker B:

Oh.

Speaker A:

Number four is Sweetheart, Again, more popular with older couples.

Speaker A:

And number five is love.

Speaker A:

Hello, love.

Speaker A:

What are you, British?

Speaker A:

Two percent say they use the terms dear, boo, bae or darling.

Speaker A:

And just 1% call their partner angel, sugar, or pumpkin.

Speaker A:

The poll finds that about half of couples do use pet names on a regular basis.

Speaker A:

10% of people surveyed said they do not want their partner to use a pet name.

Speaker A:

And 4% of people say they absolutely hate pet names.

Speaker A:

But I think all these pet names would be different if we called our partner what we really wanted to call our partner.

Speaker C:

Well, gather round, folks.

Speaker C:

It's the time of day when we laugh and smile in a light hearted way.

Speaker C:

Tune in for the giggles and let's kick back.

Speaker C:

Here comes the fun.

Speaker C:

It's the morning six pack.

Speaker B:

Here we go.

Speaker B:

The top six pet names that we would have for our significant other if we were honest.

Speaker B:

If we were honest about them.

Speaker A:

Number six, the human gas machine.

Speaker B:

Number five, sperm donor.

Speaker B:

Number four, tax break.

Speaker B:

Number three, friend with no benefits.

Speaker B:

Number two, health insurance provider.
