Good morning.
Speaker A:It's Haystack.
Speaker A:And here's something that divides the nation other than politics.
Speaker A:How often do you do laundry?
Speaker A:A new Yoga YouGov poll shows 54% of us do laundry once a week.
Speaker A:18% multiple times a week.
Speaker A:But on the flip side, some rebels stretch it out.
Speaker A:16% do laundry every two weeks are even less.
Speaker A:And 40, 54% of us admit to sometimes wearing the same clothes more than once before we wash them.
Speaker A:I'll tell you the scariest statistic in just a moment.
Speaker A:But first, let's go back to the habits.
Speaker A:74% of Americans say they do their own laundry, while just over a third of us team up with a partner.
Speaker A:And 13% have someone else do it for them.
Speaker A:Love you, Mom.
Speaker A:I mean, not for a couple of decades, but she used to.
Speaker A:When I first moved to Fayetteville to go to school, I had two weeks worth of clothes.
Speaker A:So that's how often I went home to see mom.
Speaker A:It was about a five hour trip.
Speaker A:Every other weekend I would go home to visit.
Speaker A:Cold water washes are gaining steam for both environmental and financial reasons.
Speaker A:41% of us are still loyal to hot washes, but some are abandoning them as they add on average $200 a year in energy bills.
Speaker A:And then there are the quirks.
Speaker A:There are some folks who separate everything.
Speaker A:Again, love you, Mom.
Speaker A:There are others who toss socks in with their towels.
Speaker A:I don't understand why that's a big deal.
Speaker A:That's something I've always done, and I don't think anyone taught me to do it.
Speaker A:It just made sense to me.
Speaker A:But newer machines and detergent pods make the whole laundry thing easier.
Speaker A:Just over a third of us would rather leave clean laundry in the basket than actually put it away, though.
Speaker A:So the, the, the folding or the hanging is the biggest hang up.
Speaker A:We don't want to do it.
Speaker A:We just want to take it out and be done with it.
Speaker A:And I think that's completely understandable because I'm, I'm kind of guilty of that as well.
Speaker A:But lastly, these are the scary stats that I held on.
Speaker A:I saved the best for last, or maybe the worst for last.
Speaker A:5% of Americans never do their own laundry.
Speaker A:Yeah, okay.
Speaker A:5% go days without washing their underwear.
Speaker A:I mean, I go days without washing my underwear, as in, you know, a week or two, because that's how many clean undies I have.
Speaker A:But I sometimes I'll change underwear more than once in a day.
Speaker A:And no, it's not because they're soiled.
Speaker A:It's just, you know, keep fresh, especially during the summer.
Speaker A:Anyway, I think I, you know, I'm gonna dig here.
Speaker A:Let's get some other some other laundry statistics that I'm sure are completely true.
Speaker B:Well, gather round folks.
Speaker B:It's the time of day when we laugh and smile in a light hearted way.
Speaker B:Tune in for the giggles and let's kick back here the fun.
Speaker B:It's the morning six pack.
