Speaker A:

It's haystack.

Speaker A:

And yesterday was the summer solstice, the first official day of summer.

Speaker A:

So I thought we might bust some summer myths that you may have heard, and then we'll take a look at the top six signs that, yes, it is indeed summer.

Speaker A:

That's in just a moment.

Speaker A:

The myths that I've kind of found online that or that I've heard before, and I want to demystify.

Speaker A:

You can catch a cold from air conditioning.

Speaker A:

I've heard that one several times in my life.

Speaker A:

That's not exactly true, although there is an argument to be made.

Speaker A:

It's not true from the temperature alone, but there's some evidence that when you run an AC constantly, it can dry out your nasal passages.

Speaker A:

And dry nasal passages make it slightly easier for viruses to enter your body.

Speaker A:

Another myth.

Speaker A:

Any drink will rehydrate you on a hot day.

Speaker A:

I'm rehydrating.

Speaker A:

I'm drinking beer.

Speaker A:

No, I think most people know by now that's not true.

Speaker A:

But any kind of drink with a lot of sugar or alcohol will actually do the opposite.

Speaker A:

It will dehydrate you.

Speaker A:

So if you are outside on a hot day, make sure you're getting lots of water.

Speaker A:

No, soda does not count.

Speaker A:

No, beer does not count.

Speaker A:

Just because there's water in it.

Speaker A:

All right?

Speaker A:

It's got to be actually water.

Speaker A:

You can't get a sunburn.

Speaker A:

It's cloudy.

Speaker A:

Not true at all.

Speaker A:

Clouds do not block UV rays.

Speaker A:

You can still burn even when it's cloudy.

Speaker A:

Trust a lifelong pasty guy with lots of sunburns under his history.

Speaker A:

And maybe my favorite, and this is the one that it's hard for me to believe.

Speaker A:

It's not true.

Speaker A:

But people say that garlic, if you eat a lot of garlic, it'll keep mosquitoes away.

Speaker A:

Or there's.

Speaker A:

There's other gimmicks.

Speaker A:

Essential oils, ultrasonic devices.

Speaker A:

I think.

Speaker A:

I think I've even seen smartphone apps that claim to play, you know, a sound that will.

Speaker A:

Look, there's essentially no evidence whatsoever that any of it works, including the garlic.

Speaker A:

All right?

Speaker A:

You got to do the bug spray if you really want to avoid the mosquitoes.

Speaker A:

And some people think that going for a dip in the pool can double as a shower, and that's, of course, not true at all.

Speaker A:

Pools will have tons of bacteria that can cause diarrhea, vomiting, stomach cramps, infection.

Speaker A:

You're supposed to shower before you get in the pool and after.

Speaker A:

Experts would have you shower before and after entering the pool.

Speaker A:

So there you go.

Speaker A:

A few.

Speaker A:

A few summertime myths that I've heard during my life that are absolutely untrue.

Speaker A:

But you do know now that we're in the second day of summer and you can tell it's summertime thanks to these top six signs that it's summer.

Speaker B:

Well, gather round, folks.

Speaker B:

It's the time of day when we laugh and smile in a lighthearted way.

Speaker B:

Tune in for the giggles and let's kick back.

Speaker B:

Here comes the fun.

Speaker B:

It's the morning six pack, the top.

Speaker A:

Six signs in summer.

Speaker A:

Number six, kiss.

Speaker A:

Kids are playing baseball and tennis and basketball on their iPads.

Speaker A:

Number five, thanks to sunscreen, Elon Musk is actually using protection.

Speaker A:

Number four, beaches all over the United States are filled with typical Americans displaying their big bouncy breasts.

Speaker A:

And there are women there, too.

Speaker A:

Speaking of which, number three, Sydney Sweeney has reduced her bikini down to two thimbles and a postage stamp.

Speaker A:

Number two, President Trump can finally sneak in a round or two of golf.

Speaker A:

And the number one sign that it is summer.

Speaker A:

Walmart has just put out their Christmas decorations.
