There are a lot of reasons why tipping has become frustrating in recent years.

Speaker A:In a lot of places, there's times when you're barely being served at all and you're asked to tip.
Speaker A:And now there's this, there's this viral TikTok where a couple shows how this Shake Shack, which is a big national chain of shake places, there's not one in Arkansas.
Speaker A:The closest I think is in Oklahoma City.
Speaker A:There's some in Dallas and.
Speaker A:But anyway, this couple's at a Shake Shack and it looks like you get charged more if you don't tip.
Speaker A:So in the video, they order from this kiosk thing, right?
Speaker A:They order three shakes that are six, six and a half dollars a piece.
Speaker A:They go to checkout, it says, how much do you Want to tip?
Speaker A:15, 18 Or 20% or no tip.
Speaker A:They pick no tip.
Speaker A:And then this pop up message says, oh, there's been a pricing update to one or more of your cart items and all the shakes are now 50 cents more each.
Speaker A:So people are fuming in the comments, as well they should be.
Speaker A:I mean, this is obviously the whole not tipping.
Speaker A:Shake Shack has commented and said this is not their policy.
Speaker A:They're looking into it.
Speaker A:It's a franchise thing that operates this location.
Speaker A:But I don't know if I buy that now to be fair and to give Shake Shack credit, their founder, a guy named Danny Meyer, has been really outspoken over the years about how tipping culture has gone too far.
