Good morning, it's Haystack.
Speaker A:And anyone with a half decent IQ could tell you that this is not statistically possible.
Speaker A:But good luck finding someone with a half decent iq.
Speaker A:A new poll asked people how they think that their IQ stacks up to the average American's IQ.
Speaker A:And just 6% of us think that we are below average.
Speaker A:Now, as a reminder, IQ testing is designed to average out so that half of us are below average and half of us are above average.
Speaker A:Right, that's, that's the way everything is designed here.
Speaker A:39% of us say that we are right around average and 46% of us say we are above average, which is more accurate than the 6% thinking below average.
Speaker A:8% of us think we are way smarter than most people and 10% didn't even venture a guess.
Speaker A:Yeah, I'm not sure.
Speaker A:I love that you know, either.
Speaker A:Either you're modest or you're self aware enough to know you're an idiot and you don't want to admit it.
Speaker A:I love that.
Speaker A:So the question is, are half of us delusional and we think we're smarter than we really are, probably, or do we just have a very low opinion of the average American?
Speaker A:That's definitely true for many of us.
Speaker A:Maybe both.
Speaker A:In the end, 94% of us are lying to ourselves.
Speaker A:If only 6% of us think that our IQ is okay, maybe 44% of us are lying to ourselves anyway.
Speaker A:6% think we're below average.
Speaker A:And if you're, if you're in the group that's not sure if you're below average or not.
Speaker A:Here are some signs your IQ is maybe not as high as you think it is.
Speaker A:Best way to start your day.
Speaker A:These six jokes.
Speaker A:He's about to say, listen up for old Hays back.
Speaker A:Crack open the more six pack.
Speaker A:Yeah, that's right.
Speaker A:We are taking a look at the top six signs.
Speaker A:Your IQ is not nearly as high as you think that it is.
Speaker A:Six, the only thing you got on your SAT was drool.
Speaker A:Five, the only thing you've ever read are the instructions on a shampoo bottle.
Speaker A:Four, you keep whipping open the refrigerator door as quickly as possible to catch the little man who turns the light on.
Speaker A:Number three, your nickname at work is idiot.
Speaker A:Number two, you know how most people call those plastic toy bricks Legos?
Speaker A:You call them choking hazards.
Speaker A:And the number one sign, your IQ is not nearly as high as you think it is.
Speaker A:You enjoy this radio program.
